• Tip #22: Play SuperBetter and Gain Stepmom Resilience

  • Is Resilience the Key to Stepmom Help and Peace?

I was watching the show on CNN called The Next List.  It is a show that focuses on entrepreneurs and thought leaders who are creating new solutions that will change the world.  I just love that show.  I was watching a show that was focusing on Jane McGonigal who is an entrepreneur who designs games that will change the world.  One of her inventions is a game called “SuperBetter“.  As soon as I began to play it, I just has this feeling of “Eureka!”

SuperBetter is a social, online game that is designed to help build your resilience. Resilience is defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change. Couldn’t a stepmom benefit from higher resilience?  Higher levels of strength that allows you to bounce back from adversity?  Have you ever entertained the notion of giving up on this whole blended family thing?   73% of second marriages end in divorce and one can make an educated guess that the pressures of blending a family has to contribute to this failure rate.  But, what if we could increase our staying power?  Could we reduce the divorce rate and provide a more stable environment for our stepchildren?

According to the SuperBetter website, resilience can help you achieve your health and wellness goals – like getting in shape, sleeping better, losing weight, or reducing stress – by increasing your stamina, willpower and focus.  The game focuses on your core strengths: physical, mental, emotional and social.  It is designed to be self customizable and to help all of us during a tough time.  How great is that?  Did I mention that the game is free and simple?   It’s there for times when you feel that you need a lift.  Go to the site, SuperBetter, and give it a try.  Put it in your Stepmom Toolbox for times when you could use some support.
