I have always thought that when I was introduced as the stepmom that most people want to know if I was the home wrecker. They are just dying to ask me. “Did you have an affair? What really happened?” I figured that most people would never ask such a question, so they just assume that I am the home wrecker. I decided that I will now reveal the top secrets behind what most stepmoms are truly thinking:
To Our Stepkids:
1. We think about you always. We watch what you are going through and we can’t do anything about it. If we had our choice, your core family would be back together.
2. Most of us deeply love you. We know that it is not the love you desire and crave and we are so afraid of rejection or hurting you in any way that we do not say anything.
3. We know that you want to spend time with your parents. Since there are no rules about step parenting, we sometimes overstep, but we are happy to give you the time that you need.
To the Ex-Wife
We want the best for you. We want you to be successful in all aspects of your life: as a mom, professionally, and in your personal life. We just don’t have an outlet to let you know that. We are unsure if you would believe us.
